08.30.26 – PATHFINDERS’ ALLEYCAT

Join us at 1pm on August 30th at the Seat of Forgetting and Remembering in Rochester for our first ever PATHFINDERS’ ALLEYCAT!

Do you think you know Rochester history, infrastructure, and weirdness? Does your ego depend on ultra-local bicycle street cred? Do you think because you remember where ‘raptor cages’ are that you’re gonna win this? (good luck bub)

EVENT TIMELINE
1–2 PM — Registration (don’t skip this)
Pay your $10 entry, get your manifest, and roll your six tasks.
Teams are allowed — but must stick together the entire time, be in their photographs together, and complete tasks together. Limit of 3 per team. Each team member must pay the 10$ entry. Team members share a single manifest of *6* tasks.

2 PM — Planning Window
Everyone gets 10 minutes to unseal their tasks, read them, plan a route, and get ready.

2:10 PM — Le Mans Start
Bikes staged away from riders. When the call goes out, you run to your bike, and the event begins.

6:30 PM — Hard Ending
Challenge time is up. All riders must be back at the Seat of Forgetting & Remembering.

6:30–7:30 PM — Picnic, refreshments, stories, fellowship
Scores are tallied during this hour. Eat, drink, decompress, compare routes, and relive the madness. At the end of this window, the winner is announced and knighted Pathfinder of 2026.

HOW IT WORKS
Between 1-2pm, riders and teams will take turns rolling dice to get randomly assigned six different tasks for the competition. Four of the tasks will be location based riddles. One somewhere in Irondequoit, the North Side, Downtown, and Brighton. Solve the riddle, ride to the spot, and take a photo with you and your teammate clearly in the frame. The fifth of the tasks is a trailfinder assignment. Ride to the assigned trail, and find the specified object or location. Lastly, there will be a wildcard task; a random thing you’ve gotta do. You can complete the tasks in any order.

SCORING & BONUS POINTS
+2 points for each correctly completed task
-2 points for each incorrect or uncompleted task
Additional bonuses:
+2 points for being the first rider/team back with all four riddles completed correctly
+2 points for the most outrageous wildcard completion

The highest score wins the entire pot and is formally knighted Pathfinder of 2026.

WHAT TO EXPECT
There are 93,312 possible task combinations, so no two riders will have the same route. Expect to take the entire time — plan smart, ride hard, and make every minute count.

CONDUCT
Obey traffic laws. Don’t bother people. Don’t damage anything. If you cause problems, you’re out.k to the start.
